Chris Young from the IL DNR notified me that every year, Illinois Conservation Police Officer Matt Graden helps organize a hunt for disabled soldiers and veterans called the HOOAH Deer Hunt for Heroes.
HOOAH stands for Healing Outside of a Hospital. On Tuesday, Nov. 3, eight disabled soldiers/veterans will be making a trip to Scheel's in Springfield for an all-expenses paid shopping trip to purchase hunting clothes, boots, knives and other equipment in preparation for this year’s hunt. The hunting party should arrive at Scheel's at around 10:45 a.m.
