Male and Female Suspects Steals Cash from a Register at Safeway
On 11/17/13, Moraga Police Officers responded to Safeway on a report of a commercial burglary. The investigation revealed that a male and female suspects entered the store, and while the female suspect acted as a look-out, the male suspect pried open a cash register and took an undisclosed amount of money. The case is under investigation.
Erratic Driving Leads to DUI Arrest
On 11/16/13, Moraga Police Officers conducted a traffic stop on a red Ford pick-up after the vehicle was observed swerving on the roadway on Canyon Road north of Camino Pablo, using both left and right turn signals for no apparent reason, and prior to the vehicle turning onto Camino Pablo, the vehicle’s left rear tire clipped the cement center divide. Upon contact with the 53-year-old Moraga resident the officer could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person as he spoke. The Subject was arrested for DUI after he submitted to FST’s and a PAS test which showed over the limit. The subject was cited then released to a family member.
Traffic Stop on a Swerving Vehicle Results in DUI Arrest
On 11/15/13, MPD officers conducted a traffic stop on a 2011 Chrysler 200 after the vehicle was observed travel over the solid double yellow lines on Moraga Way near Moraga Valley Lane. Upon contact with the 61-year-old Moraga resident the officer could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person as he spoke. The subject was subsequently arrested for DUI and transported to MDF.
Domestic Battery Arrest
On 11/15/13, Moraga officers responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence on Rheem Blvd. Arriving officers discovered during the argument that one subject battered the other. The injuries were slight. While officers were interviewing the victim, the suspect was located in Lafayette The suspect was interviewed and after arrested for domestic battery. The suspect was book at the Main Detention Facility in Martinez.
Elderly Female Becomes Victim of Phone Scam
On 11/14/13, Moraga officers were dispatched to the report of an elderly female who was the victim of a phone scam and was sending money to an individual in the Dominican Republic, whom she thought was her grandson. The victim had sent several thousand dollars in a one week period. This case is under investigation.
Subject Taking Items Left for Donations Arrested on Drug Chargses
On 11/13/13, Moraga Officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Rimer Drive. The anonymous PR reported two unknown subjects in a pickup truck took items scheduled for charity pickup. A vehicle matching the description was stopped in the area and the driver was found to be on felony probation for drug violations. A search of the subject and his vehicle yielded illicit drugs. The subject was arrested and booked into the MDF for drug and probation violations.
